Renault Grand Scenic Lease delivered to Ricky Holdsworth in Port Talbot

I am amazed the Post Office needs to be privatised, the amount that my customers spend sending me letters about their new cars. Here, Ricky Holdsworth explains how they are getting on with their Renault Grand Scenic

Ricky says…
CarWhat can I say about Ling???

She is exactly as it says on the tin; no nonsense straight forward, honest, reliable and a pleasure to deal with. (Oh, and she is cheaper than many others). My new Renault Grand Scenic arrived as estimated, no problems. I will be back in 3-years time!! Excellent delivery, on time, polite and straightforward.

The Kia Optima Sportwagon is a Green car yet?

Fuel is a fortune these days, so when the Kia Optima Sportwagon 1.7 CRDi 16v (139bhp) ISG 2 Estate 5dr 1685cc Diesel Manual has slightly changed figures, I always blog about it, because my customers say they care.

Most extras fitted onto cars don’t seem to make difference to the resale price in 2-3 years. Metallic paint, leather and aircon actually do, but let’s face it most cars I sell come with aircon and met paint, anyway. So, if you ask for quote to include extras, you can bet life that it will mean you pay the whole cost of the extra thing, divided by the number of rentals.

Environment

Compared to improvements in the emissions of toxic pollutants, there has been less progress on reducing CO2 from cars. For a given type of fuel the CO2 emissions of a car are directly proportional to the quantity of fuel consumed. Until recently the average fuel consumption of new cars was unchanged relative to that in the mid 1980s. This was because while engines have become more efficient over this period, average vehicle mass has increased due to additional features to meet crash safety requirements and the widespread addition of features such as power assisted steering and air conditioning. However, there are signs that in the last few years average fuel consumption has begun to drop in response to voluntary agreements by vehicle manufacturers to reduce CO2 emissions.

Environment

I am pleased to say that the CO2 for the Kia Optima Sportwagon Diesel Manual is now 113g/km. If you chose a different trim level, the CO2 would change, but not by much.

My Kia Optima Sportwagon 1.7 CRDi 16v (139bhp) ISG 2 Estate 5dr 1685cc Diesel Manual gearbox is only £212.21 inc VAT per month with 3 months initial payment, followed by 35 payments on direct debit. Business customers, make sure you deduct the VAT, when making decisions. As I can’t tell what type of customer you are (business or private), I can’t display the price any other way but to show VAT seperately (sorry!).

KiaThis price on my Kia Optima Sportwagon includes full road tax for the length of the contract, on all of my cars and vans! Free delivery to your home or work and free collection from you at the end! £212.21 inc VAT per month is based on you driving 10,000 miles per annum, but higher mileages are usually available at a small extra cost. If you go over the allocated miles, you can pay a small excess mileage charge, usually between 3p and 15p per mile.

Environment

The external noise emitted by passenger cars has been controlled since 1929 when the Motor Cars (Excessive Noise) regulations were introduced. New cars are now required to meet Europe-wide noise limits. These have been progressively reduced from 82 decibels (dB(A)) in 1978 to the current limit of 74 dB(A) established in 1996. This means it would take 7 new vehicles to make the same amount of noise as a vehicle that just meets the pre-1978 limits.

Volvo XC90 Lease delivered to Martyn Jones in Cambridge

Gotta laugh at some of these letters! It’s amazing how much time some customers put into writing them. Often it can take me up to 10 seconds to read them. Just like this letter from Martyn Jones that I got a while ago:

Martyn says…
CarOverall I was very happy with the service provided by Ling and particularly pleased to feel like an individual customer, not just another number on a sales target. My only irritation was the slow progress of the finance company.

Comparative label for the Audi A6

Looking at my records, the Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra 16v (190bhp) SE Executive Saloon 4dr 1968cc Diesel S Tronic Automatic has changed today, so I have updated the environmental information on my website. You have to laugh that I can beat Audi to this update!

Many large organisations such as CD Bramall, Perrys, Lombard, Lex, Pendragon, Network, BMW Finance, Citroen Finance, and Renault UK and many other suppliers queue up to make their cars available to me at LINGsCARS.com because they know they will benefit from a supply of ready and waiting quality customers, fast sales and efficient communications.

If showroom-based car dealers fail to show fuel consumption labels on new cars on display, or to make available to potential buyers the results of the fuel consumption tests as listed in this booklet, it renders them liable on conviction to a fine of up to 5,000. This is why dealers miraculously acheive these “minimum standards” – under threat of a 5,000 fine!

For this brand new Audi A6 Diesel S Tronic Automatic, the latest CO2 figure is just 109g/km. When I chose this trim, it was because I have a few of these available. Different trims will have different CO2.

My Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra 16v (190bhp) SE Executive Saloon 4dr 1968cc Diesel S Tronic Automatic gearbox is only £285.07 inc VAT per month with 6 months initial payment, followed by 35 payments on direct debit. Business customers, make sure you deduct the VAT, when making decisions. As I can’t tell what type of customer you are (business or private), I can’t display the price any other way but to show VAT seperately (sorry!).

New cars are like new toys to most of my customers. They get really excited. Just like Oliver Woodcock. I delivered this Volkswagen Golf to Manchester then I got this very nice letter back…

Oliver says…

Great service, love the car (and the banter with Ling’s staff!). Many thanks. Dealer Service ‒ Good ‒ Delayed delivery, but overall good service.

Green info has changed on the Skoda Superb

CO2 CO2, CO2. It always seems to go up. The Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 16v (150bhp) SE Technology Hatchback 5dr 1968cc Diesel Manual seems to have reversed this trend. If you choose one of these, you will be pleased. Lower CO2 means lower fuel consumption.

Environment

This is very difficult for some people to control because of the damn human nature. But try to look at your car as a simple consumer goods, like a fridge or microwave. Who would get excited by a microwave…? Because these cars are so very, very cheap, often dealer makes just a tiny profit. Almost like handling fee. Me too. I work on numbers of cars, like airline ticket consolidators sell tickets.

Back to CO2 – there is no easy technical way to deal with CO2. The best way to reduce it and the other emissions is to use the car only when it is necessary and to walk or use public transport where possible. When you are choosing a vehicle and you have selected the most appropriate class of vehicle for your needs, choose the most fuel efficient vehicle in that group. This is where a franchised new car dealer really struggles. Is a Ford dealer really going to advise a customer to buy a lower-polluting Renault Megane? Did you know the fuel consumption of similar size cars can vary as much as 45%?

Environment

I am pleased to say that the CO2 for the Skoda Superb Diesel Manual is now 108g/km. If you chose a different trim level, the CO2 would change, but not by much.

The other pollutants from petrol, diesel and alternative fuel engines are mainly Carbon Monoxide, Oxides of Nitrogen, un-burnt Hydrocarbons and fine particles. The first three are gases and are invisible. Fine particles are usually invisible although in certain operating conditions diesels will produce visible particles, appearing as smoke. Petrol engines will also produce visible particles if they are burning engine oil or running rich, for example, following a cold start. Unlike CO2, emissions of these pollutants are not directly linked to fuel consumption. Pollutant levels are more dependant on vehicle technology and the state of maintenance of the vehicle.

I always ask my customers if they have comments about getting their new car. Really, I am looking for criticisms (so I can improve my service). However, customers like Paul Ravening show that it is hard to generate real criticism. I can only improve if I know if anything is wrong. So, no thanks to Paul Ravening 🙂

Audi A4 pollution changed

I am Ling and my Audi A4 1.4 TFSI 16v (150bhp) Sport Leather Saloon 4dr 1395cc Petrol S Tronic Automatic has a new CO2 value today. So I post it here in my blog. I always update very fast. Can anyone name another website that can do this stuff as fast as me?

Most Ling cars are on 2 year deals or less, so you should only need an oil and filter service (you won’t need brake pads etc unless you drive like German idiot Schumacker). You just pay this service yourself, OK? Some service intervals (eg. Renault) now at 18,000 miles! You can have this small service done at any cheap VAT registered garage, just use quality parts. Your car is fully covered by the manufacturer warranty (use franchise dealer for this, free), and you get manufacturer’s AA/RAC type cover.

Martin Callanan (Euro MP for the North East Region) said “Ling and her unique website LINGsCARS.com displays environmental information in a way that leads the UK motor industry. Following my discussions with her about greening the business, Ling has grasped the environmental nettle and is giving UK car buyers comprehensive environmental data on all new cars for sale in the UK to enable them to make an informed choice. LINGsCARS.com gives a fantastic amount of green information on her new cars, which the rest of the UK motor industry would do well to emulate. Using the internet is already the most energy efficient way of researching and buying a new car, so well done Ling for taking the personal responsibility to push this carbon data to the top of her agenda and to push environmental awareness a big step further”

The CO2 for this Audi A4 Petrol S Tronic Automatic is better than it was, at just 122g/km. It is a bit different if you look at a slightly different trim level.

Biofuels also offer a way to reduce vehicles’ impacts on climate change. The fuels are not entirely CO2 neutral because of the energy used to grow and process crops, but they can offer substantial CO2 savings over fossil petrol and diesel. Today most biofuels are sold in a blends of up to 5% with fossil petrol and diesel . These are suitable for use in all vehicles. Fuel standards may be extended in the future to allow more than 5% if it is concluded that this is compatible with existing vehicles. Some manufacturers offer ‘flexi-fuel’ vehicles that can run on bioethanol blends up to E85 – a blend of 85% bioethanol and 15% petrol, as well as fossil petrol.

New CO2 figure for the Mercedes A-Class

I am the fastest car supplier in the UK to update the Mercedes A-Class 1.6 i 16v (102bhp) A160 SE Hatchback 5dr 1595cc Petrol Manual information. No one in the industry can believe how fast I am.

How to explain this without it seeming like the usual sales talk? … I don’t know, but I will try to make this clear… You know, you are not buying this car. Only renting it for (probably 1 or 2 or 3 years). So you are not stuck with it forever. So, you have no real risk. You are going to pay someone some money to run a car however you look at it.

My customers have obtained their cars by the lowest polluting method possible – by acquiring them electronically from the internet. No one has had to travel to a showroom (repeatedly) or contributed to car dealers’ massive environmental overheads (heating, lighting, water use, fuel, staffing costs). The cars I supply are often delivered direct from manufacturers’ depots, or where they have been “through” a dealer, they have not required the showroom overhead (these efficiencies have the added benefit of reducing costs!).

Having got all the info for the Mercedes A-Class Petrol Manual, I can publish the new CO2 figure: 124g/km. This will change across the different models of this particular car, they are all a bit different.

My Mercedes A-Class 1.6 i 16v (102bhp) A160 SE Hatchback 5dr 1595cc Petrol Manual gearbox is only £261.04 inc VAT per month with 3 months initial payment, followed by 35 payments on direct debit. Dealers are also required to display a poster in paper or as an electronic display, in a prominent position, showing the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for all new passenger car models displayed, or offered for sale through that particular showroom. In addition to the above, the directive also requires manufacturers to include fuel consumption and CO2 emissions data in all brochures and printed advertisements, provided that the literature relates to a specific model of car. These requirements were implemented into UK law by The Passenger Car (Fuel Consumption and CO2 emissions Information) Regulations 2001, which came into force on the 21st of November 2001.
