Ford Fiesta Lease delivered to Richard Day in Christchurch

Gotta laugh at some of these letters! It’s amazing how much time some customers put into writing them. Often it can take me up to 10 seconds to read them. Just like this letter from Richard Day that I got a while ago:

Richard says…
carLings Cars is a Car Leasing company that I stumbled upon when researching car leasing as a solution to my transfer to Swanwick this year. I figured that commuting 70 miles a day would not be good for my poor Micra so my options were to buy a new/second-hand car/lease a car or win one!! (Yeah right). After calculating the cost of a new car with depreciation, mileage, wear and tear I looked into the second-hand market but this still meant losing out with a less likely resale after a few years with high mileage, MOT costs and possible mechanical problems because of the age of vehicle.

When I saw the prices and what is included in leasing a car at Lings Cars I decided to go for that option. Included in my 3 year deal is road tax, full Ford 3 year warranty, Ford Assist Home and breakdown cover, no MOT required, delivery, documentation, some car mats that Ling threw in and a First Aid kit oh and loads of Chinese sweets and noodles she sent me!!! My 3 year lease is for 18,000 miles pa included but this can be agreed from as little as 10,000 to 20,000pa. I get a brand new car with all the benefits but don’t have to worry about selling it in three years time or MOTs or putting a high mileage on the car I can simply choose another new one and start again!
Ling Valentine is the proprietor of this company and you may of seen her on Dragon’s Den a few years ago where she actually turned down an offer shared between two of the Dragons because they wanted a higher percentage stake in her company.

Rich’s actual new Fiesta in real life! – COOL!!! – Ling

Her website is so crazy and full of funny stuff that you would think at first that this is dodgy company. I ignored the site many times before checking out the prices and doing some research to find a very competitive and genuine company. Her personal lease pricing always includes VAT and there are no hidden charges, something that she hates about most other car leasing websites.

After looking at different options and then getting an initial quote a secure area is set up where you can message Ling personally or one of her staff to simply ask anything you like, which is usually answered within a few minutes depending on the question. From then on you are constantly kept up to date with the progress of your chosen vehicle until delivery. I have got to know Ling really well since I first started enquiring about my car and I will still keep in touch with her until I lease my next car! How’s that for a personal service!

So I can confidently recommend her website as I know from research her prices are very competitive, her service is outstanding and really funny too! From the start of the whole process I have received outstanding customer service, help and support not to mention the car arriving in outstanding condition on exactly the time agreed and at an amazing low monthly payment.

It’s worth checking out her website even just for the funny stuff on there!

Ford FiestaEditor Note: Rich, you are an Air Traffic Project Specialist at NATS. You write such a beautiful description for new customers to read, thanks, and this is also pinned up on the Air Traffic notice board! I really had a great time dealing with you and we have a lot in common, because one of my toys is a microlight. I followed the building of your patio, advised you on sorting out your garden shed, heard all about your holiday in Devon swimming in the polluted sea… and now I know all about all the aeroplane near misses over Southern England! Let’s hope you don’t have a near miss in your new Fiesta, which just arrived before Ford caused massive supply problems. You are so happy with it, no wonder, after an old Micra. Glad to have such a customer who turns into a great pal! – Ling

Hydrocarbon results for the Audi A4 Avant have changed

If you are interested in CO2 stuff, then read this. I have a new figure for the Audi A4 Avant 1.4 TFSI 16v (150bhp) SE Estate 5dr 1395cc Petrol S Tronic Automatic and I am updating it on my website now.

Environmental Data

Have you ever rented a self-drive car for a day or a week? Well, Contract Hire is exactly the same, just for a longer period. Easy, isn’t it? It’s available for businesses or for private individuals. You may have seen me turning down investment on Dragon’s Den! Read on to understand how it works. Occasionally, I can supply PCP, leasing and lease hire (but not often). If you’re reading this because you are unsure if you should use LINGsCARS.com, have a look at my 900+ customer letters.

My customers agree to adhere to a fixed mileage allowance (usually 10,000, 15,000 or 20,000 miles per annum) and they are charged for “excess” miles. This means they are far more aware of the costs involved in unneccessary journeys in their new cars. To a certain extent, my customers will consider “is my journey really neccessary?” and “would it be cheaper to do this long trip on the train?”.

For this brand new Audi A4 Avant Petrol S Tronic Automatic, the latest CO2 figure is just 126g/km. When I chose this trim, it was because I have a few of these available. Different trims will have different CO2.

Environment

My Audi A4 Avant 1.4 TFSI 16v (150bhp) SE Estate 5dr 1395cc Petrol S Tronic Automatic gearbox is only £265.03 inc VAT per month with 3 months initial payment, followed by 23 payments on direct debit. Business customers, make sure you deduct the VAT, when making decisions. As I can’t tell what type of customer you are (business or private), I can’t display the price any other way but to show VAT seperately (sorry!).

AudiThis price on my Audi A4 Avant includes full road tax for the length of the contract, on all of my cars and vans! Free delivery to your home or work and free collection from you at the end! £265.03 inc VAT per month is based on you driving 10,000 miles per annum, but higher mileages are usually available at a small extra cost. If you go over the allocated miles, you can pay a small excess mileage charge, usually between 3p and 15p per mile.

Sir Nicholas Stern, Head of the Government Economics Service, produced the UK Government Environmental Report on the Economics of Climate Change. I was so pleased to win an Environmental Award in 2008, myself. It is probably the case that my customers have the smallest environmental footprints of any new car customers in the UK!

EU Directive 1999/94/EC requires new car fuel consumption and CO2 emissions data to be made freely available to consumers. Car dealers are required to have a label showing the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of each different model on display, either on or near the vehicle. Fuel consumption figures will be expressed both in litres per 100 kilometres (l/100 km) and in miles per gallon (mpg). The label will list the figures achieved in urban, extra-urban and combined conditions separately. From September of 2005, dealers had the option to produce a new “comparative” label. The new label shows the mandatory Fuel Consumption and CO2 figures mentioned previously, alongside information about the appropriate VED band for the vehicle. The new label is similar in design to the energy efficiency labels that appear on many ‘white goods’, such as fridge freezers

Carbon Dioxide and the Mini Hatch

Making your car greener is important, so it is nice when you can do it just by looking at the new Mini Hatch 1.5 D 12v (114bhp) Cooper (Chili/Media Pack XL) Hatchback 5dr 1496cc Diesel Automatic. The CO2 values have changed, making it more attractive.

Many large organisations such as CD Bramall, Perrys, Lombard, Lex, Pendragon, Network, BMW Finance, Citroen Finance, and Renault UK and many other suppliers queue up to make their cars available to me at LINGsCARS.com because they know they will benefit from a supply of ready and waiting quality customers, fast sales and efficient communications.

Environment

I also took the decision to code into HTML and make available for printing the “Comparative Labels” or the “fridge” type labels you see at Comet and Curry’s on new fridges and washing machines. No other UK website bothers (or wants) to give their customers this information. One day they will be forced to do this. I have made my code freely available for any dealer who wants to use it, and published a tutorial on how to include this in their websites. This was published on the Automotive Management forum on 26th October 2006. To date, no dealer has contacted me to use my code.

I have taken a typical model of this car from my website – the Mini Hatch Diesel Automatic. For this car, the CO2 is now just 99g/km. Other trim levels might differ slightly.

My Mini Hatch 1.5 D 12v (114bhp) Cooper (Chili/Media Pack XL) Hatchback 5dr 1496cc Diesel Automatic gearbox is only £270.92 inc VAT per month with 3 months initial payment, followed by 35 payments on direct debit. The other pollutants from petrol, diesel and alternative fuel engines are mainly Carbon Monoxide, Oxides of Nitrogen, un-burnt Hydrocarbons and fine particles. The first three are gases and are invisible. Fine particles are usually invisible although in certain operating conditions diesels will produce visible particles, appearing as smoke. Petrol engines will also produce visible particles if they are burning engine oil or running rich, for example, following a cold start. Unlike CO2, emissions of these pollutants are not directly linked to fuel consumption. Pollutant levels are more dependant on vehicle technology and the state of maintenance of the vehicle.

Mazda MX-5 Lease delivered to Noel Guinane in Brecon

Letter head

Inbetween all my bills and bank statements, I receive customer letters. Here one I pulled out to read from Noel Guinane, but I actually got it a while ago. It is about the delivery of their Mazda MX-5.

Noel says…
car“Customer service is not so much a matter of saying and doing all the right things to avoid being criticised, as it is a matter of creating a fun, professional atmosphere that makes a customer feel very clever for having to agreed to do business with you (You gottit Noel, not many people understand this, but must say, you gottit – Ling).

Ling understands this better than anyone, and that’s on top of prices that can’t be beat. There are so many contract hire companies to choose from, most of them with about as much personality as a combine harvester. I am very happy I chose LINGsCARS.com and will be back to do business again.

Bad point: Mazda delivered a car with not enough oil in it, terrible.”

Mazda MX-5Editor Note: Noel, you must have degree in psychology as you are spot on with your analysis. Thanks for comments. Mazda, however… dispute that the car did not have enough oil. My view is “why dispute and argue?”, Noel is obviously not stupid, why not just fix the problem and stop being so defensive? Mazda, you have managed to make a happy customer unhappy by having dealers that call people stupid. Plainly, that is not true of MY customers! Mazda also tried to charge my customer for this – I paid this bill immediately, myself, as Noel did not deserve this bill! How stupid and money grabbing can these garages and manufacturers get? Noel will certainly get another car from me, but I don’t think it will be a Mazda! – Ling

I have updated CO2 for the Volkswagen Sharan

Looking at my records, the Volkswagen Sharan 2.0 TDi BlueMotion Tech 16v (150bhp) SE Nav MPV (7-seat) 5dr 1968cc Diesel Manual has changed today, so I have updated the environmental information on my website. You have to laugh that I can beat Volkswagen to this update!

Local franchised dealer will sort out any warranty problems for free, but on most contracts (except VW group) any VAT registered garage can service car very cheap. Don’t use manufacturer agents, they are damn expensive. You never have an MOT (except on occasional 3-year contracts), car is always too young.

Having got all the info for the Volkswagen Sharan Diesel Manual, I can publish the new CO2 figure: 130g/km. This will change across the different models of this particular car, they are all a bit different.

My Volkswagen Sharan 2.0 TDi BlueMotion Tech 16v (150bhp) SE Nav MPV (7-seat) 5dr 1968cc Diesel Manual gearbox is only £286.94 inc VAT per month with 3 months initial payment, followed by 35 payments on direct debit. One of my best awards was the 2008 best non-franchise environmentalist, awarded by Automotive Management. Environmental Data

Because of the need to maintain strict comparability of results achieved by the standard tests they cannot be fully representative of real life driving conditions. Firstly, it is obviously not practicable to test each individual new car; thus only one production car is tested as being representative of the model and may therefore produce a better or worse result than another similar vehicle. Secondly, there are infinite variations in driving styles and in road, car and weather conditions, all of which can have a bearing on the results achieved. For these reasons the fuel consumption achieved on the road will not necessarily be the same as the official test results.

Making the Audi A4 Avant greener

I am Ling and my Audi A4 Avant 1.4 TFSI 16v (150bhp) S Line Leather/Alc Estate 5dr 1395cc Petrol Manual has a new CO2 value today. So I post it here in my blog. I always update very fast. Can anyone name another website that can do this stuff as fast as me?

Don’t use manufacturer agents, they are damn expensive. You never have an MOT (except on occasional 3-year contracts), car is always too young.

A very important feature is to be able to compare many different cars – on my main car listing pages. No franchised dealer will allow this, as they are mainly representing just one brand, so how is the average customer expected to make comparative judgements?

The CO2 for this Audi A4 Avant Petrol Manual is better than it was, at just 133g/km. It is a bit different if you look at a slightly different trim level.

Hybrid vehicles combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor and battery. There are various ways in which hybrid vehicles can operate. For example the electric motor can be used to provide additional power during acceleration and high load conditions. The battery can then be recharged by the internal combustion engine or from energy absorbed during braking, or, in some cases, from an external electrical supply. Hybrid vehicles offer reduced fuel consumption and CO2 with potentially some reduction in emissions of local pollutants.

My customers drive brand-new cars. These cars are far less polluting than cars built just a few years ago. As an extreme example, it would take 50 new cars to produce the same emissions per kilometre as a vehicle made in 1970. The new cars my customers are driving have been produced on the most modern production lines, using the latest technology with much lower environmental build costs than cars produced in the past. By their nature, these new cars will be emitting the lowest levels of pollutants than they will ever produce in their lifetimes, as they get older.

I am pleased to say that the CO2 for the Audi A6 Petrol S Tronic Automatic is now 130g/km. If you chose a different trim level, the CO2 would change, but not by much.

Biofuels also offer a way to reduce vehicles’ impacts on climate change. The fuels are not entirely CO2 neutral because of the energy used to grow and process crops, but they can offer substantial CO2 savings over fossil petrol and diesel. Today most biofuels are sold in a blends of up to 5% with fossil petrol and diesel . These are suitable for use in all vehicles. Fuel standards may be extended in the future to allow more than 5% if it is concluded that this is compatible with existing vehicles. Some manufacturers offer ‘flexi-fuel’ vehicles that can run on bioethanol blends up to E85 – a blend of 85% bioethanol and 15% petrol, as well as fossil petrol.
