Getting letters in the post is really nice. It makes a lovely change from getting email. This one was sent by Andrew Appleyard from Middlesbrough. Amazingly, the postman didn’t steal it!

Andrew says…
carI simply cannot believe how easy leasing a car has been. In fact the most difficult part of the whole process was actually choosing a car that I wanted. There was so much choice!

I have never leased a car before and was rather pessimistic about leasing as I have always owned my car. One visit to LingsCars.com totally changed my mind as it listed all the costs, how it all worked and instant access to a member of staff who also were brilliant when I asked questions.

I am very happy with my new Qashqai and is the best decision I have ever made regarding cars as especially in this snowy weather the car is brilliant.

I can’t ever see myself buying a car again; I just don’t see the point. Especially with what Ling is offering. The customer service on the website is literally phenomenal and you know exactly where you stand all the time.

Thanks very much Ling.

Dealer Service ‒ EXCELLENT, brilliant service. Thank you!

My Mercedes C Class Estate CO2 g/km levels

I am the fastest car supplier in the UK to update the Mercedes C Class Estate 1.5 C200 (184bhp) AMG Line Premium Estate 5dr 1497cc Petrol Automatic information. No one in the industry can believe how fast I am.

Environment

These days, in UK identity theft is common (not problem in China; we all look same, heheh), money laundering is common, and so is fraud. To proctect themselves, and you, against these problems the finance companies like lots of ID. There are many protecting regulations. Photographic and signature proving (new driving licence or passport), and address proving (recent 90 day or less old utility bill showing your name and address). A company may want to submit a VAT return (proof of trading) or latest signed accounts, and anyone can supply a current bank statement (you can blot out the figures if you are sensitive).

Environmental Data

Carbon Dioxide is the most important of the greenhouse gases which are contributing to Climate Change. Unless action is taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as Carbon Dioxide, the whole pattern of the World’s weather could change, increasing the frequency and intensity of heatwaves, floods, droughts and storms.

Mercedes C Class Estate

I am pleased to say that the CO2 for the Mercedes C Class Estate Petrol Automatic is now 151g/km. If you chose a different trim level, the CO2 would change, but not by much.

My Mercedes C Class Estate 1.5 C200 (184bhp) AMG Line Premium Estate 5dr 1497cc Petrol Automatic gearbox is only £284.82 inc VAT per month with 9 months initial payment, followed by 23 payments on direct debit. Business customers, make sure you deduct the VAT, when making decisions. As I can’t tell what type of customer you are (business or private), I can’t display the price any other way but to show VAT seperately (sorry!).

MercedesThis price on my Mercedes C Class Estate includes full road tax for the length of the contract, on all of my cars and vans! Free delivery to your home or work and free collection from you at the end! £284.82 inc VAT per month is based on you driving 10,000 miles per annum, but higher mileages are usually available at a small extra cost. If you go over the allocated miles, you can pay a small excess mileage charge, usually between 3p and 15p per mile.

Sir Nicholas Stern, Head of the Government Economics Service, produced the UK Government Environmental Report on the Economics of Climate Change. I was so pleased to win an Environmental Award in 2008, myself. I am determined that LINGsCARS.com will go further than anyone else in this industry to exceed the legal minimum information disclosure. It is probably the case that my customers have the smallest environmental footprints of any new car customers in the UK!

Use air-conditioning sparingly – running air-conditioning continuously will increase fuel consumption significantly.

Dealers are also required to display a poster in paper or as an electronic display, in a prominent position, showing the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for all new passenger car models displayed, or offered for sale through that particular showroom. In addition to the above, the directive also requires manufacturers to include fuel consumption and CO2 emissions data in all brochures and printed advertisements, provided that the literature relates to a specific model of car. These requirements were implemented into UK law by The Passenger Car (Fuel Consumption and CO2 emissions Information) Regulations 2001, which came into force on the 21st of November 2001.

My BMW X2 has been updated

CO2 affects fuel consumption directly. Less CO2 means less fuel burnt. So, I’m reporting this change on the BMW X2 Petrol Automatic. Have a look at the new figures.

BMW X2

As a bonus to add to your lower motoring costs, you will get every subsequent year’s road tax sent to you free of charge, saving you up to £385 per year, or £1,155 on a 3-year contract!

And if you are thinking that all the fuss at the moment should be about air travel, not cars, Michael O’Leary (of Ryanair) will put you right. He said “Aviation accounts for a ‘Mickey Mouse’ 3% of carbon emissions across the EU, compared with nearly 25% from road transport” He also said “I dont believe in trotting out all that PC claptrap just not to upset a couple of fu*king environmental lunatics. They are just loons” – which makes sense to me, as I have a problem with this statement from Christopher Macgowan, the head of the SMMT; “The motor industry is committed to helping tackle climate change”. Frankly, I don’t think many retailers and dealers are.

Working it out from the tables, the CO2 is just 134g/km for the BMW X2 Petrol Automatic. There are a few cars in this range, so different specs will give slightly different CO2 values.

My BMW X2 2.0 sDrive 20i M Sport 16v (192bhp) Hatchback 5dr 1998cc Petrol Step Auto (7 Speed) Petrol Automatic gearbox is only £337.97 inc VAT per month with 3 months initial payment, followed by 35 payments on direct debit. Business customers, make sure you deduct the VAT, when making decisions. As I can’t tell what type of customer you are (business or private), I can’t display the price any other way but to show VAT seperately (sorry!).

The comparative or “fridge” label, is compulsory in car showrooms – except you’ve got to DRIVE there to see it! I won an industry award for displaying it electronically for all website visitors. I am the proud winner of the 2008 Best Environmentalist 2008 Automotive Management Award. Like me, Michael O’Leary, CEO of Ryanair talks straight about cars versus planes. “The usual horseshit”, he says. One day, every car will be as Green as my Jolly Green Nuclear Missile Truck “Calm down dear!” – it’s only done 1,000 miles since 1970.

Check your fuel consumption – it will help you get the most from the car, changes in overall fuel consumption may indicate a fault.

The different fuels have different merits from an environmental perspective. Compared to petrol, diesel vehicles have significantly lower CO2 emissions per kilometre traveled because of the higher efficiency of diesel engines and hence have a lower impact on climate change. Diesel vehicles also emit lower levels of CO and HC than equivalent petrol vehicles. However diesel engines emit greater levels of NOx and Particles than new petrol vehicles. As mentioned earlier, emissions of such pollutants are an air quality issue, particularly in urban areas.

Many customer letters contain really funny stuff. It’s unusual to receive a very dry one. However, I publish them all. Here is a letter from James Casey. It was sent to me quite a while ago!

James says…
carAs promised, you and your team did what you could to get the car delivered before Christmas – Thank you.

Audi A4 SaloonEditor Note: Thanks so much, James. You did mention that the car was slightly late on delivery and there was a slight imperfection on delivery, then you crossed it out and said it was “nitpicking”. Well, I am always happy to chase this stuff up. However, you seem to be very happy with everything, and I am so pleased you like LINGO – it is industry leading. No other car supplier has such a thing. I’m happy to stimulate car manufacture, but, I think it will need more than me to single-handedly rescue it. I do my best! – Ling

I’ve updated the enviro stuff on this Mercedes E Class Estate

I am Ling and my Mercedes E Class Estate 2.0 E220d SE 16v (194bhp) Estate 5dr 1950cc Diesel 9G-Tronic (9 Speed) Diesel Automatic has a new CO2 value today. So I post it here in my blog. I always update very fast. Can anyone name another website that can do this stuff as fast as me?

Your car belongs to the finance company on whose documents you agreed to the contract. Many different wear and tear agreements are issued, but it is safe to say that they all are similar to the industry standard issued by the BVRLA (British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association). I have condensed the advice into an easy to read PDF file. If you have things to fix, I recommend 1st call to people like Dent Devils, mobile Glass Repair, etc. Cheap and often works. They usually come to you, in van. Easy. Treat this car like your own car and you will not go far wrong. If you sold a 2-year-old car privately, you would fix exact same problems. Common sense helps!

Christopher Macgowan, Chief Executive of the SMMT wrote to me and said “Ling, thank you very much for giving us the opportunity at SMMT to look at the impact of the (environmental) label in a different media from the car showroom. We have always been aware that like the “white goods” label on which the car label is based, that its merits extend beyond the car showroom. In addition we know that the earlier in the buying process the purchaser thinks about low CO2 emissions the more consideration it will be given in the buying process. The industry is committed to seeing the environmental credentials of cars being widely publicised and the SMMT will continue to provide leadership in this area; as with all new initiatives in a huge industry like ours, it takes a bit of time to become widespread and universally available but please be in no doubt that the SMMT and I personally are determined to see the widespread use of the new label.”

For this brand new Mercedes E Class Estate Diesel Automatic, the latest CO2 figure is just 109g/km. When I chose this trim, it was because I have a few of these available. Different trims will have different CO2.

My Mercedes E Class Estate 2.0 E220d SE 16v (194bhp) Estate 5dr 1950cc Diesel 9G-Tronic (9 Speed) Diesel Automatic gearbox is only £373.20 inc VAT per month with 3 months initial payment, followed by 35 payments on direct debit. Business customers, make sure you deduct the VAT, when making decisions. The external noise emitted by passenger cars has been controlled since 1929 when the Motor Cars (Excessive Noise) regulations were introduced. New cars are now required to meet Europe-wide noise limits. These have been progressively reduced from 82 decibels (dB(A)) in 1978 to the current limit of 74 dB(A) established in 1996. This means it would take 7 new vehicles to make the same amount of noise as a vehicle that just meets the pre-1978 limits.

New VCA data on the Kia Sportage Estate

Look, another CO2 change! The Kia Sportage Estate 1.6 GDi ISG 2 16v (130bhp) Estate 5dr 1591cc Petrol Manual (6 Speed) Petrol Manual has moved slightly in the environment tales again. I post the new info, and publish on my website.

Personal Contract Hire is exactly the same as contract hire for businesses. This is the beauty of getting a car like this, as you benefit from FLEET BONUSES! However, VAT makes a difference. Businesses get the rentals shown ex-VAT (they can often reclaim half of it), whereas private purchasers have it included in the rentals.

Kia Sportage Estate

Compared to improvements in the emissions of toxic pollutants, there has been less progress on reducing CO2 from cars. For a given type of fuel the CO2 emissions of a car are directly proportional to the quantity of fuel consumed. Until recently the average fuel consumption of new cars was unchanged relative to that in the mid 1980s. This was because while engines have become more efficient over this period, average vehicle mass has increased due to additional features to meet crash safety requirements and the widespread addition of features such as power assisted steering and air conditioning. However, there are signs that in the last few years average fuel consumption has begun to drop in response to voluntary agreements by vehicle manufacturers to reduce CO2 emissions.

For this brand new Kia Sportage Estate Petrol Manual, the latest CO2 figure is just 162g/km. When I chose this trim, it was because I have a few of these available. Different trims will have different CO2.
