Who Wants To Pay 15x More For The Same Car?

Want to get taken to the cleaners?
Then rent the same cars I supply, but rent a used one and rent it for a short period. Then pretend you are getting a “superior” service. Bollocks.
And pay 15x (FIFTEEN TIMES) more! Double bollocks! Guess how much the company renting these cars pays for them? Probably a lot less than if they rented them from me, as they are BIG player in UK car dealer/rental scene.
I understand that this is Apples and Pears (or “Dog and Cat” as we say in China). But really, the difference is so vast it deserves an expose.
Here is the exchange of letters…
“Good morning Mrs Valentine,
I have just been on your website and wondered if we could do any business together.
We are Guy Salmon a Prestige Car Rental based in Hunslet in Leeds. We are part of Vanguard UK, our sister company being National and Alamo Car Rental. At the Leeds location we cover a large area covering up to Newcastle.
Would you have any need to utilise our vehicles? I have attached a Vehicle Guide.”
…and my reply to them:
“Susan, You know, most people from Yorkshire just call me “luv”.
Do you know, you charge more for a Mini Cooper for a weekend, than I do for a month? For the money people spend on your Mini for a month, I could contract-hire them TWO brand-new (not cleaned and polished used cars like you rent) Aston Martins AND one brand-new Mini Cooper, pro-rata! Matter of fact ALL the cars in your “fun” section are cheaper to rent from me for a month, than they would be for a single weekend from you, plus every other one I have clicked on. Wah! I guess there is a market for companies who typically buy 1st class air tickets and 1st class rail tickets and have champagne at their sales meetings, and who blatantly spend other people’s money and government subsidised bollocks, but with the best will in the world… this is not me, or my customers.
My customers who need a car for a week get directed to Enterprise at the moment, and told to rent a Corsa or a Seicento or some other cheap rubbish, or I twist a dealer’s arm and get them slapped into a Mitsubishi Colt or whatever. To charge over 15x as much as I do to drive the same car (albeit for a short period) is blatant overcharging and outright daylight robbery. Do your customers realise how much you pay for your cars and that you are turning such a vast margin? Guess you get away with it. Wow.
I’m afraid my business model is based on cost-effective, efficient, low-overhead, along with the best service in the industry. No way could I ever force myself to recommend your prices. You’re off the scale.
Watch out for my blog, your pricing compared to mine will make a lovely story. Soon as I’m back from BBC tomorrow, I will write it.
Sorry to tell truth, it often hurts. Nothing personal, just that in ethnic republic of Yorkshire I should say what I mean and not talk rubbish. Go ahead and justify your prices, you know they stink! Have YOU personally ever rented one of Guy Salmon’s cars at these prices? I run one of MY own cars…. see the difference?
Ling Valentine”
For gullible idiots and for entertainment value, I give these people a link here, only click on it if you want to be taken to cleaners: HERE
I am proud to be called “The Ryanair of Contract Hire” by Fleet News. No one could call these people “The Ryanair” of anything. I think their prices like a first-class seat on British Airways, while using an older, more used product than I supply, for a shorter time. Bear in mind, they pay LESS than my prices for their cars, to acquire them before they rent them out at 15x my rates.
