I’ve butchered the classic Troggs song –’Wild Thing’ in the hope that you can find me a motor at my budget. I really need a 7 seater 4×4. My shogun goes back in December but my budget needs to stay circa £400 per month Personal Contract. It’s for my wife and she likes the Disco 3, doesn’t want another Shogun, also likes the XC90 & Toyota Landcruiser. Wants automatic as well (bloody women heh!) By the way…thanks for the Yen a couple of months back!!

My God, you give me difficult task. I will search tomorrow but real answer is below.

Why do you need 4×4? Do you have high kerbs? Toyota Corolla Verso 2.2 Diesel 7-seat (nicer to drive day-by-day and faster then Disco AND easier to park) is on stunning offer, arrived today. NEW Toyota Corolla Verso 2.2 (136bhp) D-4D T2 MPV 5dr 2231cc 3+23 £211.49/mth includes VAT. These will go FAST.

For goodness sake, forget the 4 wheel drive and auto (toyota gearbox so easy), save £190 x 26 payments on your budget over 2-years (plus the fuel savings, plus the insurance saving), that’s over £5,000 saving, maybe nearer £6000. You have to earn over £7000 to be able to spend £5000. It’s like a £3.5k pay rise per year. With the £5000 saving, choose from a fantastic cruise, tour the USA wild thing, visit China for 3-months, do a top month Safari in Africa or simply don’t tell her and blow it on 20 track days or tons of drugs (it sounds like you take them, with that song). Or put one of many children in private school. Do you REALLY need a 4×4? Don’t tell me you have a 4-tonne horse box? And you cannot possibly sing Wild Thing and have a caravan.

Advice free. Swallow your status, ignore the neighbours, spend your cash on something better than a lump of metal. Disco does not make you or wife better people.

Plus, as you know with the Shogun, Japanese cars don’t break down.

This answer is a classic, frame it. Discuss with wife.
